Clutch start cancel switch^{* *}If equipped The switch allows the vehicle to be driven out of difficult situations by cranking the engine with the clutch engaged. Clutch start cancel switch Never use the switch for normal engine starting. Be sure to follow the starting procedure. (Engine (ignition) switch) Press the “ CLUTCH START” cancel switch to cancel the clutch start system when the engine switch is turned to the “ ON”. The indicator comes on when the clutch start system is canceled. The clutch start cancel switch is automatically turned off when the engine switch is turned off. Note: Clutch start system The system is designed to keep the starter motor from operating if the clutch pedal is not depressed all the way down. Canceling the system The switch allows the vehicle to be driven out of difficult off-road situations by cranking the engine in gear with the clutch engaged. Conditions to turn the clutch start cancel switch ON: Vehicle must be in “ IGNITION ON” The clutch start cancel switch and brake pedal must be pressed simultaneously for 1.5 seconds Clutch start cancel switch indicator & multi-information display graphics will appear when clutch start cancel is on Hill-start assist control brake function is disabled when clutch start cancel is on To start engine cranking in clutch start cancel mode: Vehicle must be stationary with brake pedal pressed Parking brake & brake hold must be turned off Simultaneously press the engine switch and brake pedal for 1.5 seconds to begin engine cranking When cranking starts release the brake pedal Continue to press engine switch until engine completely starts The clutch start cancel switch will turn off by any of the following: When 1 minute has passed after the clutch start cancel switch was pressed When the clutch start cancel switch is pressed again after activation When the vehicle is turned off by the engine switch Note: Operating tips Do not press the switch for normal engine ignition conditions. When the switch is pressed, be sure to check the surroundings as the vehicle will start moving immediately once the engine cranks. When the Clutch Start Cancel Switch is turned ON, a message and required operation may be displayed in the Multi-Information Display. “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel enabled temporarily. Engine can start in gear. HOLD Engine Switch and Brake Pedal to start engine.” or “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel enabled temporarily. Engine can start in gear. Hill-start assist control is disabled.” These two messages will cycle when it is OK for the clutch start cancel system to start engine cranking. Press engine switch and brake pedal simultaneously for 1.5 seconds to start engine cranking. “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel enabled temporarily. Vehicle must be stationary to start engine.” Press brake pedal to stop vehicle from moving. “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel enabled temporarily. Starter cooldown. For normal start, turn off Clutch Start Cancel Switch.” Maximum continuous cranking or multiple starting attempts; wait for the starter cooldown period to expire. Turn off clutch start cancel switch for immediate normal start. “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel enabled temporarily. Turn off Parking Brake and Brake Hold to start engine.” Turn off parking brake and brake hold functions. “ Caution: Clutch Start Cancel not available. For normal start, turn off Clutch Start Cancel Switch.” Turn off clutch start cancel switch for normal start.
